MANNHEIM, GERMANY – Watch Water GmbH today announces the development of Instant Membrane™ – a liquid treatment concept designed to challenge the conventional idea that a membrane must be a physical barrier.
For decades, membrane treatment has meant pushing water through RO, NF or other physical membrane structures. These processes can require significant pressure and energy and can generate concentrated reject streams.
THE MEMBRANE IS NO LONGER A PHYSICAL BARRIER.
Instant Membrane™ is conceived as a diluted liquid treatment containing two powerful functional components – one cationic and one anionic.
When precisely dosed into flowing untreated water or wastewater, the two components are designed to interact with oppositely charged dissolved species and promote their conversion into insoluble precipitates that can subsequently be separated from the water.
The process concept is remarkably direct:
DOSING → ZIGZAG CONTACT → VORTEX PRECIPITATION → CRYSTOLITE® CAPTURE → CLEAN WATER
A specially engineered 10-metre zigzag contact section provides mixing and reaction time. The stream then enters a Vortex Pressure Vessel, where intense hydraulic contact supports precipitation and particle development.
The resulting solids are captured by a fully automated Crystolite® Duplex Filtration System. One vessel remains in service while the second provides standby capacity, enabling automated backwashing based on pressure differential and supporting continuous operation.
