Working Principle
Filtersorb CT,
by Watch Water, is a
Scale Prevention Media which works on the principle of
Nucleation Assisted Crystallization (NAC). FilterSorb CT media has small nucleation sites on its
surface. When the hard water flows over these nucleation sites, the bicarbonates (HCO3–) of calcium & magnesium are transformed into micro-crystalline carbonate (CO32-) form. These micro-crystals are
very stable, harmless and incapable of forming scale in the water.
The following equation describes the process of Nucleation Assisted Crystallisation that occurs inside
the pressure vessel:
the pressure vessel:

antiscale
media does not add sodium to water like conventional softeners, while
keeping the healthy minerals intact. In the pressure vessel, the equilibrium of the reaction is driven to
the right due to the driving force of stable crystal formation. As long as CO2 is being removed the
soluble Ca(HCO3)2 converts into insoluble calcium carbonate (CaCO3) crystals.
