WATCH TYPE WDS are strong complex agents, which show an excellent performance at dissolving organic and inorganic scale. WATCH TYPE WDS types are readily biodegradable according to standard OECD tests. Due to the superb ecological and toxicological profile,  WATCH TYPE WDS are particularly suitable for use in products for end-consumers. Several such products containing WATCH TYPE WDS have been awarded ecolabels.

A major difference between WDS and other alternative complexing agents is the superior ecological and toxicological profile. WATCH TYPE WDS is readily biodegradable according to several OECD standard tests. Unlike other products, WDS does not require adapted bacteria for decomposition, but instead is degraded under the standard conditions defined by the OECD and required by many local regulations.

Furthermore, WATCH TYPE WDS was thoroughly tested with respect to its toxicological properties. It is now the only alternative complexing agent to have undergone the full regiment to toxicological tests. It is now proven, that WDS poses no risk to humans or the environment. Consequently, the EU does not require any safety or hazard labeling for WDS !

High stability throughout the entire pH range and even at elevated temperatures. This sets WATCH TYPE WDS apart from chemicals like EDDS (Ethylenediaminedissuccinate) or IDS (Iminodissuccinate), which show much lower stability.

It contains no NTA or EDTA not even 0.1 % it !

WATCH TYPE WDS is a much stronger complexing agent than citrate and can replace citrate in substoichiometric quantities. Thus it opens interesting opportunities to formulate powerful products for home or industrial use. Not only does WDS exceed all other alternative products at removing lime scale and tough stains, it is also a powerful ingredient for CIP cleaning processes due to its unique dissolving power for fatty acid containing stains.

The properties of WDS make it an ideal substitute for phosphatedosing in drinking water. Phosphate free products based on WDS can even surpass the performance of their phosphate containing counterparts.
